Tray Sealing Machines

Tray Sealing Packaging Machines

Rocket Machine Works designs and builds reliable machines for sealing trays or bowls with foil or plastic film.

Our inline tray sealers deliver consistent, high-quality seals in a fully automated process. Operators simply load trays onto the belt—each tray is then sealed, film-cut, and discharged, ready for the next stage.

Die-Cut Tray Sealer (DTS Model)

The DTS model features precise servo index control and can be equipped with optional denesting and filling systems to streamline production. It seals trays or bowls using either plain or pre-printed film, making it a versatile choice for many applications. However, it does not support over-capping or film registration.

Square-Cut Tray Sealer (SC Model)

The SC model offers similar performance to the DTS but is designed for use with plain or random print film only. Its square-cut process allows for 100% film usage with no scrap, helping reduce waste and maximize efficiency. Like the DTS, it includes servo index technology and can be configured with optional denesting and filling systems.

Inline Continuous Motion Tray Sealer

Built for high-volume production, the Inline Continuous Motion Tray Sealer can be configured to seal three to eight containers at a time at speeds of up to 120 containers per minute. It uses a die-cut sealing process for consistent, precise results and accommodates both plain and pre-printed film. Optional features such as gas flushing and thermal transfer printing provide additional flexibility for specialized packaging needs.

Die Cut Tray Sealer – Efficient Scrap Take-Up for Hand-Loaded Packaging

Discover the versatility of our Die Cut Tray Sealer, complete with a scrap take-up system for streamlined packaging. This machine is ideal for hand-loaded applications, ensuring precise seals with minimal waste. Perfect for food manufacturers looking to boost efficiency and maintain product integrity.

Square Cut Tray Sealer – High-Speed Institutional Meal Packaging

Our Square Cut Tray Sealer is built for institutional meal prep, sealing four trays at a time in facilities like schools and correctional institutions. This 30-foot machine ensures high output, consistent sealing, and smooth integration with accumulation tables for bulk packaging needs.

Continuous Motion Tray Sealer Machine

Sealing 4 trays at a time being fed from a packing line. Change tooling available to run different sizes. Bypass conveyor option when sealing is not required on the line for standard clamshells.

Talk To Engineering

1. What is the difference between the Die Cut Tray Sealer and the Square Cut Tray Sealer?

The Die Cut Tray Sealer trims the film precisely to the exact contour of the tray for a premium, custom aesthetic. The Square Cut Tray Sealer performs a square trim, ensuring 100% film usage with no scrap, which is ideal for cost-efficiency in high-volume institutional packaging.

2. What is the highest production speed I can expect from your Tray Sealers?

Our Continuous Motion Tray Sealer is our fastest option, capable of sealing three to eight containers at a time, achieving speeds of up to 120 containers per minute, depending on the product and volume.

3. Which tray sealer model is best for institutional packaging like school or hospital meals?

The Square Cut Tray Sealer (SC Model) is specifically built for high-speed institutional meal preparation. It often seals multiple trays per cycle (such as four trays at a time) for consistent, high output in facilities like schools and correctional institutions.

4. Can your Tray Sealers handle pre-printed or registered film?

Yes. Our Die Cut Tray Sealer and the Continuous Motion model can accommodate both plain and registered pre-printed film for perfect brand alignment. The Square Cut model is designed for use with plain or random print film only.

5. Do these machines support gas flushing for modified atmosphere packaging (MAP)?

Yes, our Continuous Motion Tray Sealer and other models can be configured with optional features such as gas flushing for products that require extended shelf life and specialized packaging.

6. Are Rocket Machine Works Tray Sealers built for easy sanitation and washdown?

Absolutely. All of our Tray Sealers feature full stainless steel construction and direct wash down components. They are designed to meet or exceed USDA, FDA, and NSF requirements for rigorous food processing environments.

7. Can I integrate a filler and denester with the tray sealer?

Yes. All of our tray sealer models are designed for seamless inline integration. They can be equipped with optional denesting, filling, date coding, and accumulation systems to create a complete, automated production line.

8. How do your tray sealers minimize film material waste?

Our Square Cut Tray Sealer maximizes film usage by trimming the film squarely, resulting in virtually no scrap. The Die Cut Tray Sealer uses an efficient scrap take-up system that collects the excess film web, minimizing floor clutter and manual handling.

9. Where are your Tray Sealer machines manufactured?

Every Rocket Machine Works machine, including our full line of Tray Sealers, is proudly designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA, in California.

10. If my machine needs maintenance, are the parts easy to find?

Yes. We use non-proprietary parts wherever possible, meaning components can be sourced easily from standard industrial suppliers. This simple maintenance design helps minimize your downtime. Additionally, all machines have remote access technology for quick, off-site troubleshooting.
